A few weeks ago, we came up with the first version of an official Guild Leader replacement process. We received a lot of feedback from you guys about that process. While many of you appreciated the gesture, most of you found it to be overly difficult and time consuming to successfully carry out. When it came down to it, the rules we laid out were a pain in the ass, and they ultimately didn't help Guilds achieve the thing they set out to do: replace their inactive Leaders and move forward with building a successful Guild. Sorry!
After considering all of the feedback you gave and deliberating about it, we've come up with a process that we think will be more useful and much, much easier to pull off. Here it is:
Replacing an inactive Guild Leader
Here’s how it will work (until we implement an in-game method). A Guild Leader is eligible to be manually replaced once they have been inactive for 21 days or more. If that amount of inactivity has not occurred, we will not consider replacing the Leader. If the Guild Leader has been inactive for at least 21 days, then the Guild can choose to replace the Leader. If a Guild chooses to replace an inactive Leader, the Officer in the guild with the highest amount of Guild XP who has been active within the past 48 hours will become the new Leader.
Here's the process:
- An Officer in the Guild must reply to this forum topic explaining that their Leader has been inactive for more than 21 days and that the Guild wants the Leader to be replaced. Be sure to identify your Guild by name! Tag @jennie in the post so she will be sure to see it.
- Once we see your post, we will verify that the request came from an Officer and that the Guild Leader has been inactive for 21 days or more. Once those two things have been verified, we will promote the Officer in the Guild with the highest amount of Guild XP to the rank of Leader. This Officer must have been active within 48 hours of our verification; if they have been inactive for longer than 48 hours, we will move on to the Officer with the next highest Guild XP and continue in that manner until we find someone who meets the requirements to be promoted through this process.
Guild Leaders in World Zombination play a key roll in ensuring that the game’s guilds are active and healthy. Unfortunately, there are occasions when a Leader decides to leave the game, becomes inactive, and thereby deserts their responsibility as Leader for an extended period of time. If leadership is not passed on to another Guild member prior to this occurring, it can cause problems with proper Guild maintenance, as other Guild members do not possess certain management powers that the Leader is endowed with.
That’s not fun at all. We don’t want to leave any of you without an active Guild Leader, but replacing a Leader is a bit of a sensitive situation that needs to be handled carefully. Ultimately, we would like to have an in-game solution for Guilds to deal with situations like these themselves, but until then, we'll go by the above process.
Please also note that if we notice Leader behavior that could be classified as trolling, threatening, harassing, or otherwise intentionally harmful to other players (including relative to gameplay and their enjoyment of World Zombination) we reserve the right to make Leader changes at our discretion, outside of the aforementioned process.
If you have any questions about this, please let me know below. This is the one and only way that inactive Guild Leader change requests will be accepted until we have implemented an in-game system for the Guilds to use themselves. Please note that the requirements listed above are subject to change at any time if we feel that they need to be adjusted.
